Case
Extra Work

I have had parents request extra work for their students to work on at home. Generally I do not mind getting a few things together for students to work on. However, with the amount of students that are on my caseload, I'm finding it hard to get the rime to look up resources for parents. I have resources posted on our class website for parents and students to use. Should I just refer parents back to those resources that are posted, or should I print physical materials for students to take home?

If you have resources posted on the class website and provide students with homework and their parents still request extra work for their students to work on at home the parents need to take some of their own time and find some resources for their children. It is important that you have a life also.
Solution #2
I would definitely refer them to the website because that is the extra work that you have set aside. Maybe you could attach the extra work you are printing off to your website some way. Suggesting websites for the parents to print the material themselves would also take the responsibility off of you. Offer the parents to let their students to attend the after school program at your school. I'm sure they provide extra work to ensure enrichment opportunities.
Solution #3
I would refer them to the websites or advise them of books they can purchase for extra practice at home. There is no need in creating more work for yourself.

I agree. At a certain point, it is the responsibility of the parent to find the extra work they want their child to do. With the referral to the website and its resources, you have done your job.

Solution #4
Refer them to the website, and let them know that books may be purchased at many department stores. In addition, they could check out a textbook to read ahead or review work that has already been studied.
Solution #5
I think it is completely reasonable to refer parents to the resources listed on the class website. If you know of an instance that internet/computer access is a factor, then I would print out some things for that student to work on.
Solution #6
Could you provide the parents for a website to use as an extra resource for their students? This might come in handy with your work load.
Solution #7
I believe if you have a classroom website and things are available to them, refer the parents back to that. Now if the parents doesn't have the means to access the website then just print them out a few things for the month.
Solution #8
I think you should refer them to the classroom website.
Solution #9
I would refer the parents to the website and external sources. You don’t want to add extra work for yourself because if you give more work to the students as grades you have to give more work as grades to the rest of the class. This means that the students have more work to do and sometimes it really had to complete everything.
Solution #10
I would personally refer them to the location you have the resources located incase they have forgotten about the resources and then maybe refer them to a couple of other educational sites that could be beneficial for their child.
Solution #11
You should absolutely continue to point parents back to those resources, or maybe give them some tips on how to find age appropriate material online.
Solution #12
I would refer the parents to the resources.
