Interviewing Within Your School

I am currently considering a job as an EIP teacher at the school in which I currently work. The position will not need to be filled until next school year, but I will begin letting my administrators know I am interested in the position soon. How should I prepare for this type of interview. I am already at the school, and deal with the administrator on a daily basis. What things should I prepare myself for that would allow me to excel in this process?

It would be wise to speak with other EIP teachers about the position, as well as a coach to get all the information possible about the position. I would discuss the schedule and requirements that may differ from your current position. I would also try to get in any professional learning on the position that is available. That will help your application as well.

I think this is the best solution and would do exactly this.

As your administrators will already have a firm grasp on the type of teacher you are and your teaching styles and skills, they will need to be assured that you know the content which you will be working with and are prepared for the task at hand. I would be sure that I knew what the job entailed and be able to effectively communicate about the position when asked.

I would definitely go talk to the teacher already working there or go get experience from a classroom.

I would look into the position to make sure it is something you really want to do. The best way to find out about the position more is to talk to the teacher who currently holds the position. That person is also likely to be asked by administration if they find a certain teacher capable of the position. If you have shown interest and that you care they are likely to put in a good word.
