Case
Social Media and Teachers

I have a teacher that continues to post ecards, memes about situations that occur with her and another teacher. For example, the teacher was having difficulty within a Pre-K classroom, and when given a solution of providing reinforcers such as small goldfish, m&m, small video clips, stickers, the teacher passively refused. Instead, she posted ecards and pictures of how students should not be rewarded unless they were doing good. How would you handle situations such as this with social media?

Solution #1
Top Solution
I would personally ignore the rude comments from your co-worker. If your co-worker cannot act professionally, it is their problem. If it gives you some piece of mind, "unfollow" or "block" that co-worker from social media so you do not have to involve yourself in the drama.

I agree! The easiest solution would be to not get involved.

I agree with your point of view.

I agree! I think not getting involved would be the best solution.

Solution #2
I would not worry about that teacher's posts and mind my own business. There is no valid reason for this teacher to be posting things like this on social media. I would only get involved if it started to directly relate to me.
Solution #3
If the teacher is posting on social media during the school day it should be addressed with administration. If she is posting after school the comments should be ignored.
Solution #4
Teachers are an ambassador of the school, on and off the clock. They need to keep the classroom in the classroom. This subject should be addressed, without beating around the bush. If the teacher doesn't comply, it could cost her job. She will have made the decision to comply or not, and therefore to get fired or not.
Solution #5
Social Media should be avoided in the workplace. Especially if it is disrupting work. She should keep her opinions to herself so that she isn't representing herself inside the workplace as a negative.
Solution #6
I would ignore the behavior it seems like a sad attempt for the teacher to try to get a rise out of the other people involved. If the behavior continues and it is becoming an issue in the work place then i would go to the administration and address the situation and explain that is now causing a problem at the school and becoming a disruption. If it is not causing a problem in the school then i would ignore it and unfollow the teacher being passive aggressive.
Solution #7
As a coworker or even an adult i would ignore her petty attempt at attention and i would either unfriend or unfollow the teacher.
Solution #8
The easiest solution would be to not get involved
Solution #9
The teacher can decide if they want to listen and take solutions of what to do in the classroom. Teacher may just want to vent not a solution. You should just unfollow them and ignore it.
Solution #10
I would show her how providing reinforces will help her students.
Solution #11
I think it should be against school policy for educators to participate in work related rants on social media. This should be brought to somebody's attention. This teacher is making her school look dysfunctional when she is posting things on social media about it. She needs to be reminded of the reasons we are teachers and that is to do what is necessary to do our jobs productively.
Solution #12
Social media should be kept far away from a professional setting. If her teaching has begun to negatively impact the students it is time to alert administration.

I do not think this is the best solution. I think ignoring her behavior and not getting involved would be best.
