Local field trip

All the of the 2nd and 3rd-grade classes have been invited to a play. The theater is a 5-minute walking distance from the school. Our 3rd-grade class is in the back of the line. Each student has a buddy. One student is overly excited and running ahead. What to do?

Solution #1
Top Solution
I would first give this student a warning that they need to stay with their buddy, and explain that it is unsafe to run ahead of the group where their teacher can not keep track of them. If the behavior continued, I would give that student the choice to either slow down and stay in their spot in line, or walk with me and hold my hand until we reach our destination.

THis would be a good idea. If the student cannot correct their behavior, then walking with the teacher provides you the means to keep an eye on them.

Solution #2
Tell the student this is ahead to stop and get back in their spot if they keep doing this then I would make them go to the back of the line and tell them to be patient.

I like this idea, tell the student of possible consequences as well. Also, move closer to that student, walk next to them or be in their view.

Solution #3
Just keep telling the students to be calm and if they are overly excited bring the student to the side and tell him or her if they continue they will miss out on the movie.
Solution #4
Tell them that they need to get back in line and they need to stay in their spot because it is not safe for them to be running around and everyone needs to be in a line. if they continue to do it tell them they will have to go back to school and will not be able to go on the field trip if they do not stay in their spot in line.

If I were in this situation, I would exactly do this.

Solution #5
I would first kindly explain that we will all get there at the same time, so walk appropriately in your place with the classroom. Relate to them that you understand they are excited, and everyone includes yourself is also looking forward to getting there but we must respect the rules and be aware of the danger in running ahead. If needed explain running ahead has many risks including losing the class, tripping and injuring self and others, and if they do not listen then you could kindly "threaten" they are risking their participation in future trips by not listening and following expectations.
Solution #6
Tell them it's dangerous to run ahead and if they can't follow the rules, they have to go back to the school and not attend the field trip.
Solution #7
I would pair that student up with someone in the front of the line. If this matter continues, then escort the student with the teacher.
Solution #8
take the students hand yourself and make sure they understand safety procedures

I would make sure you are not grabbing the student in any way.

Solution #9
Tell the student to stay with their buddy, if they continue to run ahead assign a teacher as their buddy.
Solution #10
Tell the student running to stop and get back with their buddy. The student should not be running ahead because it is a safety concern. Consequence for this should happen because they did not follow directions.
Solution #11
If the student cannot stay in line with his buddy, then he should be paired with a teacher or adult.
Solution #12
If he can't follow the rules, for safety reasons. If he still doesn't listen he will have to walk with an adult or be escorted back to the school.
Solution #13
I would have the student walk with me. I would tell the student that they lost their privilege to walk with a buddy because they ran ahead.
Solution #14
I would set up either a hand-holding system or a rope with loops for each child to hold onto. Then explain the consequences for letting go of the rope.
Solution #15
Warn the student to stay with his buddy, if the behavior continues, have the students hold an adults hand.
Solution #16
You should know your students to where you know who are the runners, these particular students should be around the teachers and not holding hands with a student.
Solution #17
tell them if they dont want to walk with their partner, they will have to walk with the teacher the entire time.
Solution #18
The student who is running ahead needs to be pulled aside and talked to. This student needs to know that this behavior is unacceptable and dangerous. The student needs to know that there will be consequences if this behavior continues.
Solution #19
I would just remind the student to get back in line with their buddy otherwise they will lose a benefit like recess for example or pull a card, etc.
Solution #20
Explain to the student the dangers of them running ahead of the class. Let them know that it is alright to be excited about the play but that it’s imperative that they stay with the group.
Solution #21
Tell the student running ahead to stop and get at the end of the line behind the other students. Remind said student of safety rules and that it is dangerous to run ahead of the class. Tell student that he/she will have to sit quietly and reflect on their behaviors if it continues to occur.
Solution #22
I would say the students name to get their attention and tell them to get back with their buddy. If behavior persists I will have them walk with me and explain to them that their choice is an unsafe one and that they could get hurt or cause other students to get hurt if they followed this unsafe behavior.
Solution #23
Loudly, assertively, say the students name. This should indicate that they're doing something they shouldn't and they should stop. You should tell them to get back in line or that they now have to stand with you since they can't be trusted to do what they're suppose to.
Solution #24
Explain to the student that you understand they are excited but safety is still first. If they cant comply, then they will be sent to the back of the line or have to hold my hand like a kindergartner.

I wouldn't make the comment to hold my hand like a kindergartener but I agree explain about safety first.

I agree holding hands may be necessary because the student may still try to walk ahead even if they are sent to the back of the line. However, the kindergarten comment may not be taken well.

Solution #25
Explain to the student that he must remain in line and follow the buddy system to go on the field trip.
Solution #26
Use your teacher voice and call to them. Usually that works.

This solution seems unclear, what qualifies as a "teacher voice". Just telling students stuff usually works?
