It is best for teacher to stay neutral when discussing the election, as teacher bias can alienate some students and skew the teacher's own lesson. A good idea is to tackle issues that are found from both the DNC and the GOP. The teacher could also maybe get coworkers with various opinions to review the lesson plan.

Support the class with facts, articles and interviews from both sides. See what the students think of it all themselves. Have them form their own opinions on what they believe they support. They may ask you questions but you must remember you are there to educate, so use only supported facts, not opinions.
