Do you think it is important for teachers to learn at least one new language?

I think it makes for an excellent tool, and that it's weight carries importance, however I don't feel that it is mandatory or required that they learn the new language. Having the skills to educate ELLs is more important.

I speak English and Spanish and it has helped me out as an educator tremendously and I feel that all teachers should at least try to learn another language to better communicate with their students

Depending on the area where you're teaching this can be really beneficial (with it almost certainly benefiting the class no matter what), but regardless it is for sure a good skill to have whether you are a teacher or not.
