Case
What should you do as a teacher in cases that you can't properly talk to parents or the student?

I know you could possibly use translation programs or find a translator itself but what if the students or parents aren't used to technology and don't want to use it. Would a physical translator be the only option then or what other options would there be?

Solution #1
I would contact the lead ESOL teacher at your school so they can be present during the conference to help communicate, or see if your school can provide a translator. If none of these options are applicable to the situation, maybe see if the parents are comfortable with bringing in someone they know to help translate.
Solution #2
If the ESOL teacher is available, I would try them first since you probably work closely with them anyway. Or if there by chance an administrator that speaks the same language they may be able to help translate and keep contact with a parent.
Solution #3
If the parent is not able to use technology I would see if there is an another teacher who wouldn’t mind translating for you when you have to speak to that parent. Also when it comes to using a technology you can have the parent speak in the phone therefore they are doing less of the technology using and you are helping them as much as possible.
