Holidays

During the holidays, it can be pretty rough for students who cannot afford presents but I want to make sure everyone feels good and less stressed during the holidays. In the future when I become a teacher, should I get a gift for each of my students that is personalized or should I stick with a themed party for the day?

Solution #1
It's admirable that you're thinking about your students well-being, especially during the holidays. A themed celebration for the day might make the event more inclusive and fun for everyone, regardless of their own circumstances, even though personalized gifts can be meaningful. Other ideas for promoting a feeling of joy and belonging include planning a charity event or developing heartfelt classroom customs that honor diversity and togetherness.
Solution #2
Either one works, as long as it shows respect and acceptance to all students. Feel free to even ask students what they would like through an anonymous survey and with reasoning. The holidays are for celebrating, should be a positive event, no matter which you choose.
Solution #3
Either option works, it could depend on the class and class size, but other than that the more important thing is that you would give a gift to each student whether it's a fun party or a small gift, the thought matters almost more than anything else.
Solution #4
I think getting presents for students is a great idea and makes them all feel included and something to celebrate. Even if it is something small it goes a long way.
Solution #5
I would stick with a theme and give each student the same gift as jealousy and comparison may arise. To make each gift personal to each student, write them a personalized note.
Solution #6
Gifts are a very interesting topic around the holidays. It is very tough for students when parents get kids iPads for Christmas and are told it is from Santa because then it makes it seem like Santa didn't give them one so I think parents need to preface that even at a young age.
Solution #7
A themed party is a great way to include everyone, ensuring no student feels singled out. Personalized gifts can be lovely but may unintentionally highlight differences.
Solution #8
Gifts can be lovely, but they may not be realistic for everyone. Some children receive many gifts during the holidays, while others may not get any at all. If your school is in a low-income neighborhood, providing practical gifts students need daily can be incredibly valuable. Instead of focusing solely on material items, let’s highlight shared experiences to foster a stress-free and inclusive atmosphere. We could create crafts to decorate the classroom, plan a fun party, and offer delicious snacks. Let’s also ask the students what snacks they’d like to enjoy at the party, accompanied by music and games for everyone to enjoy!
Solution #9
Instead of gifts I would throw a themed party to make sure all of the students feel included because gift giving may make the other students feel left out
Solution #10
both are honestly good and as a student i would be happy with either but if it is a party make sure you are covering costs not them because they may not be able to bring in naything.
