Parent is teaching kid wrong

What do you do if a parent is helping their kid with the homework but is not following the lesson and the students work is wrong. They get it right in the classroom but their homework is consistently incorrect and they tell me their parents are working with them.

Solution #1
I would approach this situation by engaging the parent in a supportive and non-confrontational way. I would communicate with the parent to share the specific strategies or methods being taught in the classroom, as they might be unaware of the approach being used. Providing resources, such as a simple guide or a video demonstration of the lesson, can help align their assistance with the classroom instruction. Additionally, I would offer the student some clarification opportunities during class or after school to ensure they understand the material correctly. Reinforcing to the parent that their involvement is appreciated while gently guiding them to use the same methods being taught in class can strengthen the partnership between home and school. This approach fosters consistency in the student's learning and reduces confusion
Solution #2
It sounds like the student is getting confused by their parent's help. First, have a conversation with the student to understand exactly what their parents are doing. Then, gently reach out to the parent, explaining that while their help is appreciated, it's important for the student to practice independently. You can suggest ways they can guide their child without doing the work, like asking questions or reviewing the lesson together. Offering extra practice or resources for the student can also help reinforce the lesson. The key is to ensure the student is getting the right practice while keeping the parent involved in a supportive way.
Solution #3
It’s important to approach this with sensitivity. Have a private conversation with the parent, expressing your concerns in a non-judgmental way. Explain that while you appreciate their involvement, it’s important that the student is practicing the skills correctly as learned in class. Suggest reviewing the lesson together to ensure the parent is aligned with the teaching method. Additionally, offer to provide extra support or resources for the student to help them understand the material better at home.
