Case
Classes with ESE students

Does anyone else have issues with dealing with students who tend to have outbursts in class? I don't want to give them too much attention and reinforce the behavior but how else should I assess the situation? I also don't want to take away time from the other students as well.

Solution #1
Absolutely! I also experience outbursts in my class, especially since my students are between ages 3 and 6. While I sometimes overlook these moments, addressing specific issues early on is essential to prevent them from growing. I've noticed that many students crave attention and love. I always have positive conversations and follow up when they do exceptionally well emotionally. I also try to understand what might be upsetting a student or what could be triggering their feelings. I have calm and peaceful conversations so they can grasp what they’re experiencing. If a student is feeling upset, I provide a quiet corner in my classroom where they can read books and take some time to relax before rejoining the group.
