Case
Cooperation but not friends

One student in my class has taken a liking to me, but will only work with me if I am put with them. The teacher lets me work with the student because typically he is already trying to run out the door, but I’m not trying to pick favorites and he isn’t but he thinks he is. How can I create a good relationship with a student but not make it seem like we’re friends?

Solution #1
only talk with them during assigned group hours and about school work and tell them that this is a proffessional not personal relatonship
Solution #2
I think ensuring they know the relationship is professional and not personal is a good start. I would also try building a relationship with other students in the class to avoid the impression of favoritism.
