Your wallet is missing

You attend a basketball game at your school, and sit beside some students in your science class who have a bad reputation. You notice your wallet is missing and you're sure the students took your wallet. You tell the students that you cannot find your wallet and ask if they have seen it. They state that they have not. What would be the next action(s)?

My next action would be to speak with a police officer to report my wallet being missing. You can not accuse anyone of stealing especially when you have no real proof.

Hopefully having the officer around will scare someone to confess or give up the person who actually stole the wallet.

I found this study to be very interesting.

I would report the situation to the school police officer, providing any information relevant to the case. I would not directly say that this group of students stole the wallet, but I would let the officer know everyone who was around me when the wallet went missing, including not only this group of students, but any students or parents who may have been seated around me.

At this point, all you can do is report it to the nearest security guard and/or police authority in hopes that they will launch an immediate investigation and search for the wallet. However, it is important not to draw any assumptions and/or conclusions based what you have heard about a certain group of students.

My next action would be to bring it to administration before confronting the student. I don't think that confronting the student with an accusation of stealing would end well on either end.

I would notify the parents as well as the administrators. I would also get the school officer involved.

You can't accuse anyone without proof so who you wouldn't know whose parents to tell. Plus getting too many people involved might result in a negative response.
