Chaperones brings a cooler of beer and wine on the bus

During an over-night field trip with students, one of the chaperones brings a cooler of beer and wine on the bus to share after the students go to bed. After the students are put in their rooms, chaperones start consuming the alcoholic beverages before the final student bed check is made. What would you do?

I would definitely contact an administrator and let them know immediately what is going on. I don't even know if I would get into a confrontation with the parent. I would just let administration handle the situation. First of all, a trip with students is not the time nor place for drinking alcohol. Something could happen to the students and these chaperones would be held accountable. This is very irresponsible and extremely against school policy.

I found this study to be very interesting.

Solution #2
I would approach the parent and let them know that it is inappropriate and not the time to consume alcoholic beverages at this time. I will also let them know that all student rooms haven't been checked and to put the beverages away. I also wonder if I would need to call someone in administration to report what is going on. This parent will also not be invited on the next field trip because of this issue.

I agree with this solution. I would contact another administrator to make sure I covered my self just in case I was suppose to do something and I did not know.

I agree with this solution. It would be incredibly inappropriate for parents to be drinking around children, especially ones that weren't their own. I would put a stop to the drinking, and contact the administration immediately.

Solution #3
I do not see how the person even considered this act was appropriate. The whole point of being a chaperon is to assist the teacher in monitoring, and managing the children. How can you keep an eye on children when you are inebriated. First of all the person should be confronted and told why they should not bring the alcohol on the bus, If they get out of hand the next thing that should be done is contact the principal.
Solution #4
If I had noticed the cooler before the bus had departed I would tell the parent that bringing alcohol on a school field trip is highly inappropriate and that they will have to leave it behind. If had not noticed and they began drinking during the field trip then I would ask them to stop and if they refused I would then bring the problem to administration.
Solution #5
I would contact the administrator as chaperones are in charge of the students, and they shouldn't even be consuming alcohol while chaperoning and especially before bed checks are done, they could do this during their free time when they aren't chaperoning.
Solution #6
I would inform an administrator and have them confront the parents. I would not want to make myself legally responsible if anything were to happen and I knew and didn't tell.
