Pre-Kindergarten Assessment Results

I try to inform my students about their progress in the class, but this can sometimes be a challenge with four year olds. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I could help my students understand their assessment results in an easy and meaningful way?

You could make a fun chart with the students for their scores. Allow them to color in or paste items to for each test to show their growth. Anything they can visualize will help them to understand. You could do a class chart or an individual one and put stickers.

My son's pre-k teacher shares the students process in the form of graphs that the students color. She uses this activity to practice number recognition while sharing their success.

Most four year olds are visual learners. With that being said, having visuals of different results and showing them in a story form or having something that would be memorable for these students to understand, would help them process and understand. I saw that a solution for smiley faces were mentioned, would be a good way for a visual understanding. Being creative with this can help them as well. Colors might be helpful too.

I would use stickers, smiley faces, etc. to show strong areas or results. Areas that needed to be worked on could be discussed with the child and parents.
